There and Back Again, a College Students Spring Holiday

With a stuffed full case and a grateful heart,
prepared to meet my journey face to face,
to travel along endless roads that part
me from loved ones to whom I make rapid pace.
I see grey skies looming and grass that’s dead,
and I’m carried forward on leather soles,
deep crags preach a road worn in loving tread,
by many searchers, seeking hearts and souls
left behind, when their journey’s they’d taken.
Now we seek to find our loved ones left behind
to gather the dust from soles shaken.
Return we to our past with open mind.
Youthful in life, and full of pride, we’d drone,
“I’ll not return” and now say, “No place like home.”
