Savor Being Small

Wouldn’t you know it’s lonely at the top?
And I’m not being sarcastic,
you have to find that part that’s soft and chop
it out, so as to make a thing fantastic.
If your wanting to lead a country on
to bigger better things, or bring your show
to the level of a national icon,
than you must suck it in and lose your heart,
but maybe gain the respect of your peers.
That’s the sad price to be a master of art,
a price that takes it toll slowly over years.
To be great you must be small, and let them hate,
But oh, oh, to be small would be so great.
